I proudly invite you to my Solo Exhibition at Artspace where I'll bedisplaying a collection of new dresses and sketches, as well as, featuring photographs of the garments on live models by photographer Stephen Aubuchon.
The aesthetic of the images is very important to me. The clothes arestrikingly different on live models; as opposed to dress forms. Stephen and I worked together to capture a distinct tone with the photographs. Its hard to say what that tone is, as that decision will be unique to each viewer based on their own life experiences. At minimum the goal of the work is to 1. satisfy an internal desire, and 2. to create an external desire.
All of the dresses (and other garments) were created during my recent 6 month term as Artist in Residence at Artspace. And so were the sketches. Please note that there is also an Artist's Talk on February 26th at6pm. During this talk I will be discussing my creative process, routines, lack of routines, honest thoughts and hopefully shining somelight on my reasons for constantly creating.
To create is: to cause to come into being, as something unique that would not naturally evolve or that is not made by ordinary processes.
