MARIE CORDELLA: AFFAIRS
Below you will find an always growing collection of my process work, commission documentation, retail information, volunteer endeavors and much more. Each post is directly related to Marie Cordella Design.
Newraleigh.com: Raleigh Dress Maker Marie Cordella On Reality Show this Thursday
We don't think Marie Cordella needs validation from some judges on a reality show. The Raleigh dress maker is always the creative highlight of the SPARKcon fashion show. Her high end couture designs are reserved for the most descriminating customers. Thursday night though, Cordella steps into a different class of creative art- the Reality television show. Like Ashley Christensen before her and completely unlike Clay Aiken- Cordella is already very successful and posesses major creative chops. So for one hour on Lifetime, watch as Cordella battles 3 other designers in a fashion showdown on Lifetime's Catwalk.
If you want to share in Cordella's trials tune in to 24 Hour Catwalk Thursday at 10pm on Lifetime. No word on the outcome of the episode, but our money is completely on our Raleigh girl.

Contemporary Art Museum, Raleigh: Guest Speaker
Today I had the incredible honor of speaking at Raleigh's Contemporary Art Museum. During the summer, CAM offers all sorts of programs to children, teens and adults. I came and spoke with the high school summer session concerning 'Art to Wear.'
"Summer Design Studios are weeklong discipline specific art and design workshops for high school students held at the museum in downtown Raleigh. Four studios are offered for Summer 2011, and sessions include graphic design, architecture + landscape architecture, animation + filmmaking, and wearable art + design. Each session will include design projects, field trips, and visits from artists and designers."

Guest Speaker at NCSU Design Camp
North Carolina State University's Design Camp is a fabulous program that brings high school juniors and seniors from all over the country to NCSU for a summer Art and Design camp session. Each day the students are faced with one challenge from one genre of design. Projects include: fashion design, architectural design, landscape design, and more. One integral part of the program is the panel of professionals who come in once a session to show their portfolios, and discuss their work. I was luck to be invited to speak twice this summer, along with incredibly skilled designers Joshua Gajownik and Daniel Moskop.

Watch as Amy's dress comes together between today and Friday, May 20th. This beautiful dress is designed to wear to summer weddings. Its soft, yet solid fabrics allow for the piece to be dressed down with cowboy boots, or dressed up with black satin pumps and a black satin clutch. The inside is lined with both navy silk and robin's egg blue fabric. It is modern with its shoulder and back cut-outs, and yet classic in its fit and flare.

Gregg Museum, First Friday Opening: Featuring Marie Cordella Dresses
Friday May 6, 2011 was the Gregg Museum's first Firth Friday. In celebration of the event, I had several models (provided by Models for Charity) wearing my dresses stand and sit around the Museum. Be sure to check out the Gregg for future First Fridays. With its soon-to-be new location in the Chancelor's House (eta 2014) there is a lot of excitement in the air.

Commission: Red Rose Dress
Red Rose Dress was one of the dresses that was showcased in Charleston Fashion Week. The morning after my collection showed, I received a phone call from a woman who saw the dress on television the night before. This is the dress created just for her measurements and preferences, which is going out with UPS this afternoon.
The beauty of this dress is its simplicity. Created with delicate pleats, textural details and a hand knotted clasp, Red Rose Dress is on of my favorite designs from 2011.
